You are a cabinetmaker. You have custom designed an entertainment center in Charlie's living room. The oak cabinetry holds the TV, the stereo, CDs and videos. Now, Charlie has decided that he wants a matching cabinet for his books.

"When you are making cabinets manually, you measure to drill holes, to cut pieces to fit and for many things," says Albert Ly. He is a cabinetmaker and owner of a cabinet manufacturing company. "In larger companies, you may need even more math to program computerized machines that cut and drill for you."

Charlie wants the cabinet to have 3 shelves. He wants the top shelf to be 8 inches high. He wants the 2nd shelf to be 1.5 times as high as the 1st shelf. The 3rd shelf should be the size of the top 2 shelves combined.

If you add an extra inch for the thickness of each shelf, what is the minimum height that you should make the cabinet to fit the books?
