Real-Life Decision Making

You are a CNC programmer. You are working on a project for a client. Your project is going well. It is scheduled to be completed on Friday. Unexpectedly, the client calls and says he wants the item by Wednesday.

You tell him that you cannot finish it two days early. The client is very persuasive, and tells you how important it is to him to get the part by Wednesday. He says that if you can get it ready two days early, he will be sending a lot more work to your employer and that he will tell your employer how much he appreciates having you on the project.

You know that if you skip some of the testing and take a few short cuts, you will be able to finish by Wednesday. On the other hand, if you take short cuts, there is always the possibility that you could make a mistake.

If that happens, your employer will be responsible and you will have to start over and create an entirely new part at the same price as the customer was going to pay for the first one. This will cost your employer a lot of money.

Still, it's not likely that you will make a mistake. You are a skilled worker and have a lot of experience.

What do you do?
